The Most Beautifully Photographed Spots Around the Globe

February 12, 2019

All around the world, there is an abundance of beauty to take in. Whether you’re capturing a breathtaking mountain range, rare wildlife, the culture of a city, or architecture, the right snapshot tells a story. There are countries in the world that are famous for a specific image or landscape. Below we will discuss some of the most photographed spots around the globe. As for our Photographer Spotlight Contest, you could win a trip to anywhere in North America and discover an abundance of different landscapes and architecture to tell your story.

The Eiffel Tower

Paris, France:

At 1063 feet tall, the Eiffel Tower stands as one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Many people dream of going to Paris one day to see and photograph this iconic tower. From the world’s most acclaimed photographers to the average tourist, this magnificent piece of architecture has been captured on millions of cameras time and time again. You can’t travel to Paris and NOT take a photo of this quintessential landmark. It intrigues all and there are so many reasons people are mesmerized by it. It could be the history, the romantic feel it brings to the city, or the influential nature of it. Therefore, we consider it one of the most photographed spots in the world.

Aurora Borealis

Lofoten Islands, Norway:

Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as The Northern Lights, is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena of the world. Now, there may not be one particular place that it is photographed, but it’s something that can be photographed from many different countries. It can be seen from Alaska, all the way to Iceland, and near and far in-between. With its colorful glow, it is captivating to see it with your own eyes. If given the chance to photograph this natural spectacle, you won’t be disappointed as there are so many ways you can encapsulate its beauty. This is one of the most captured natural moments you can experience. Therefore, we believe it is one of the most photographed “places” in the world.

Machu Picchu, Peru:

Machu Picchu, an ancient site in Peru, is another amazing spot for a photographer to explore. According to the New York Times, in 2016 alone there were over one million visitors, which means we can likely assume it has been photographed over a million times at least. It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and for good reason. A mix of nature, architecture, and history combine to create a plethora of reasons why people love it and want to capture its beauty.

Venice, Italy:

Italy is a dream destination to many, and, for that reason, we believe it is one of the most photographed places in the world. It is such a popular tourist location that they are having troubles with over-tourism, as many want to see this breathtaking place filled with stunning architecture, amazing culture, and a beautiful landscape. One thing every photographer (and tourist) must see in Italy is Basilica di San Marco, one of the most stunning cathedrals in Venice. Religious or not, the architecture alone will take your breath away.

Want to photograph some hidden gems of the city? Don’t stick to the main trail. Get lost in a city and see what you can find on your own. You never know—it could be the next most photographed spot in the world.

We’ve covered architecture and nature from different landscapes globally. Many sayings are around for a reason, and one that holds true when visiting any of these most photographed destinations is: take only pictures, leave only footprints. We want these wondrous places to be around for years to come, and for more people to have the opportunity to not only see photos of them, but to go themselves and take their own photos. Since we don’t want to end on a cliché, we hope that you enjoyed our choices for some of the most photographed places and natural occurrences around the world. There are many more we could discuss, but for now we hope that this has inspired you to travel and take as many photos as possible!

Do you have any amazing photos from one of the most photographed places in the world that you want to share with us? Do so in the comments. We would love to see them!
