How to Use Photoshop Plugins

Adam, thank you for the Photoshop Plugins video which was a great help in getting my Google Nik Collection installed on my Photo Studio Ultimate 2019. I do have a question regarding how the PS Plugins interact with ACDSee PSU 2019? For example if I load a TIF file into Edit Mode, select TOOLS-PHOTOSHOP-PLUGINS-NIK COLLECTION-COLOR EFEX PRO 4 the plug in launches and I am able to interact with Color Efex Pro 4 and then SAVE my image, which is excellent. Upon returning to ACDSee PSU 2019 the changes are applied to Layer 1 in Edit Mode but not to a newly created layer which I was expecting how the Photoshop plugins normally work. Is this how the Photoshop Plugin is supposed to work in ACDSee PSU 2019 or have I failed to install my Google Nik Collection correctly?
