I love the warm amber glow of the clock against the cold blue hues of the foreground and background – the Time is literally Frozen In. When printed in Black & White the picture becomes “Frozen In Time” — the setting could be 1908 or 2008. The only thing that dates this picture is the window air-conditioning units, however air-conditioning units have been used in Buffalo since 1902 (Syracuse NY).

Though I’m from Buffalo I actually took this picture while visiting Lexington KY. Luckily I owned a 4-wheel drive vehicle when I ran into this destructive ice storm. All roads were closed and driving bans were in full force; that was my queue to grab the backup camera and brave the storm! When looking closely one can see the freezing rain, sleet, and snow falling all around. I used an umbrella in efforts to protect my equipment. The damage to the landscaping and property was colossal, but the frostbite was well worth the great picture opportunity!
