Paddling Deep into the Badlands - Day One.
Friday, November 28th, 2008 by TimSeveral of my friends decided to do one of their biannual paddles down the Red Deer River. The prairie winds were threatening to tear all the fluttering color from the deciduous trees so we made haste and as the temperatures can fluctuate wildly, packed for all eventualities. The river, which wanders deep into the Badlands of Alberta, Canada, eventually joining forces farther south with the much bigger Saskatchewan River. With autumn at our heels and a prediction of weather approaching, we hoped to catch just enough fair skies to paddle the two days down river to where we parked the second car.
