In my last posts, we covered a few tips on better composition. As with anything the more you practice, the better you will get. I encourage you to take those tips and go practice! Today, we will focus on a fun way to encourage you to practice! It is called Project 365 and it simply means to take a photo every day!
This project will encourage you to keep that camera nearby every day and to use it! Project 365 in its simplest form it is to take a photo every day! In addition, it encourages sharing or creating with those photos. You could share the photos on the internet via a blog or online photo album. You can take those photos and put them together in a simple photo book either printed by one of the dozens of online printing services or in traditional albums. You could even pick up digital scrapbooking and take those pictures and put them into compositions and create digital art. Here’s why Project 365 is beneficial:
- Capture those every day moments that otherwise will get lost/forgotten
- Create an amazing resource to document a year in your life.
- Practice will improve your photography skills. You will get familiar with your camera. You will have to come up with ideas on what to capture thus making you more creative.
Some tips:
- You don’t have to start on Jan 1. Start whenever you want to!
- Don’t expect a perfect shot every day.
- Don’t panic if you miss a day, just pick up where you left off.
- Keep that camera close and bring it with you.
If you wish to share your photos online ACDSee has an easy upload to Flickr which is online photo album. You can share your images with family & friends. Flickr has multiple ongoing Project 365 groups that you can join. See more information at the end of the post for links to those groups.
Here’s how to share your Project 365 images on the internet with Flickr using ACDSee 2009.
- Select your daily image.
- Choose Upload to.. in the toolbar
- Choose Flickr and click on Next
- The first time if you aren’t a member, you will have to join Flickr.
- Again if its a first time, I would suggest creating a new set called Project 365 to organize your images on Flickr. Choose “Create Set” and create Project 365 Set (sets are like albums) and also apply the tag for your group. In my case, I am adding “project365”. On following days, you just select the Project365 set and add your tag.

- Click Next
- Change settings as desired and click Upload Now!
- If you have joined a Project 365 group on Flickr, once you have uploaded are viewing your image, choose Send to Group and choose your Project group.

This will be a quick and easy way to share your photo online daily by uploading with ACDSee 2009 to Flickr.
