A Fresh New Start with ACDSee

Every January it seems like everyone gets caught up in the resolution rush and getting organized is on the top of many peoples’ lists. So blogging about using ACDSee Photo Manager to organize an image collection would be in order, right? How about using ACDSee to organize your home? Strange as it may sound, having an organized hard drive can help in other areas of life.

So instead of feeling overwhelmed by moving a month ago, I applied my tiered organizing system from Photo Manager to the problem. My system for organizing my digital scrapbooking supplies is based on the idea of using broad categories for a quick pre-sorting before doing a more detailed tagging using sub-categories. For example, I have a fasteners category where I can quickly stash all my staples, buttons, pins, and tape when I unzip new downloads. Then, as I have time later, I can use those sub-categories to refine my tagging.

I took the same approach last month as we prepared to move. We went through the house and pre-sorted each room. Lots of organizing experts teach a method of sorting by destination…keep, give away, sell, throw out, etc. But I changed it up and put like items together first. It was much easier to see where I had duplicate items to give away by sorting types first and each room was less daunting. So here we are, just 3 weeks after the move and all settled in. We’re not living out of boxes, I can find things better now than I could at the old house, and I’m already back to my scrapping.

I hope this helps you find your own fresh new start this January. Happy Tagging and Happy New Year!

I recently got a new computer and it is an upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit . I have had a lot of problems with different things not being compatable with the 64 bit so was wondering if photo manager 2009 would be compatable. Also use Vista . I don’t have ACD see system but wondered if it would work. I am just a housewwife with simple needs, not a professional photographer.
Please answer if possible. Thanks for your attention.
