Have your tried to delete the catalogue, Pro 2.5 has created? Maybe this one's buggy. You can find it in the default path, e.g. in XP here:

    C:\documents and settings\[user name]\local settings\application data\ACD Systems\Catalogs\25Pro\Default

Another option would be to uninstall everything, install Pro 2 and then install Pro 2.5.

Yes also had the same problem last night. Was doing a Batch Process on 400+ images and got the "ACDSee has encountered a system error and will close now." error after 100 or so images processed. Tried again and got same error with 100 or so more images processed. Tried again and found that my laptop (XP SP2) had rebooted itself. Now when I try to run ACDSee Pro 2.5 I get the main screen displayed but not fully populated and the Quick Start Guide window overlaying it but blank. If I close the Quick Start Guide window using the red X, ACDSee closes.
I solved the problem by deleting the catalogue files and reinstalling! Luckily, having used ACDSee over many years and have frequently seen the "ACDSee has encountered..." error, I do not trust the ACDSee database to be reliable and so use ACDSee for image editing only. If I had trusted the ACDsee database and built my image collection using it, I would be very angry. ACDSee has to make their database bullet proof! It has to be reliable whatever happens when using their software. An error whilst running ACDSee which is picked up by the software (error message is displayed) should not result in a damaged database. A user of ACDSee Pro 2.5 should not have to remember to create a backup copy of the database before they use the software just in case the software crashes! ACDSee has to improve its error handling and, most importantly, the reliability of its database. <<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

I just went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled 2. I mainly use it for checking on files after exporting or before importing from/to Lightroom and sometimes batch processing.
I would be REALLY upset if I lost lots of info tho........That night with so much work, and after having such a good system down, it was frustrating but got through it...just lost a couple hours......
Thanks for the help and advice
