    Mantra,

My understanding is that to save your metadata in XMP, you have to turn "ON" the  "Display embed database info reminder" in Tools/Options/database.

Once done, my personal experience is that ACDSEE will detect any difference between the XMP content and the database content, and will ask you, right before closing ACDSEE, to save the changes in XMP.

To the best of my knowledge, you do not have control over what exactly is saved or not in XMP: it is mostly the ACDSEE database properties, like Caption, Author, Rating, Categories...

I used to save my ACDSEE database properties in the IPTC section using a batch Set Info script , but if you ever need to rebuild your ACDSEE database, you would have to run the "reversed" script, to populate the database from ACDSEE.

The good thing with saving to XMP, is that when you catalog files, or rebuild metadata, it gets your ACDSEE properties automatically from the XMP, so no need to manually run a script to populate the database.

    Hope this helps.

The Embed Database Information operation can actually be run at any time, not just automatically at shutdown (which is when you are prompted to do it if you turn that option on).  I generally run it on each day's images just before archiving them.  But do not that while this operation saves to XMP, it uses ACDSee specific fields - that is, it is a way of safeguarding your db info for use by ACDSee, not a way of sharing db info with other applications.  For that, you want to write to IPTC fields, which confusingly enough can also be stored in XMP files.  But you store in ITPC fields using Batch Set Information, and you have to set up your own mapping from database to IPTC fields.  My blog article on DAM with ACDSee explains how I do it and why, but basically, I put Author->Photographer, Notes->Headline, Caption->Caption, Keywords->Keywords, and Rating->Urgency (this is all saved as a preset, and it's set as the default when I invoke the operation).  I run this on each day's files immediately after the Embed Database Information operation.

    Mantra

When ACD embeds its own specific fields, it does so to 'special areas' in xmp which are unique and which no other application writes to.  This is a fairly common practice and Lightroom, for example, writes its raw processing to its own unique 'special areas' of xmp.

could acdseee damage the info of camera raw

Well, I suppose any application (Photoshop included) could corrupt a file whilst writing data but it would NOT be because of this specific issue
