View mode > View menu > Toolbars > Customise is disabled

  • The title says it all. In View mode the option to customise Toolbars and Keyboard shortcuts isn't available, but is greyed out. It is available in Manage mode.

This applies to two computers, a desktop running Vista and a laptop with XP. (I can't say with certainty that it was available in Beta 1 on either, so it may not be a new problem.)

Does anyone else have this problem? At least one other user (Marc) doesn't.

John -    Working okay (not greyed out) on both of my systems......Vista x64 and Vista x32.  Are you on Build 304?

  • Build 304 it is

I may try a re-downloading and reinstalling on one computer. There again, I may just wait for the release version.

Just curious - which command is actually greyed?  The View menu itself, the Toolbars item on that menu, the Customize item on the Toolbars submenu, or the Keyboard tab on the Customize dialog?

I'm wondering if perhaps this relates to some sort of setting or option you have made differently than others.  You might try toggling things randomly (eg, header, filmstrip, zoom versus scroll mode, the various options in Tools->Options) to see if the customization enables itself.

Thanks Marc, your guess was right.

I have the "Bottom toolbar" turned off, as I never use it, so Pro3 assumes I can't want to customise it. Quite reasonable, one might think. But much less reasonable is the assumption that I wouldn't want to assign keystrokes to commands either! (Personally, I'd say that someone who dosn't use the toolbar might actually be MORE likely to want to set up keystroke assignments.) It also explains why it's disabled on both my computers: it's simply because I've turned the Toolbar off on both.

So I have to turn the Bottom Toolbar on, then do my keystroke assignment, and then turn the (unused and unwanted) Toolbar off again.

Hardly ideal, but it least it does work. Fortunately it not something I'd want to be doing a lot.
