Figured it was safe to do an upgrade to 2.5 finally and the installation locked during database conversion.

Reference image attached... it's been that way for hours.

I don't mind leaving it... or is it time to kill the program w/ task manager and see what happens?

If any of the below matters, let me know.

Win Vista Home / AMD Turion 64 / Toshiba Laptop

Same exact thing happened to me. I killed it and it wiped out my DB. Had to reinstall 2.0 in order to get things working again. It also created allot of numbered folders with just one picture in each. I have 40 thousand pictures. But that's because I shoot for a living :) Took a long time to clean it up.

Good luck. I am going to wait for 3.0 before I do this again...

Just to be clear - it didn't actually touch you 2.0 db, did it?  It shoudl have created a brand new 2.5 db - which could indeed be empty if the operation failed - but the 2.0 db would still eb exactly where it was.  Meaning you could always try the convert operation over again.

It also created allot of numbered folders with just one picture in each.

Could you explain this further?  Where were these folders, and where did the pictures come from?

For the OP: can't hurt to let it run overnight.  But if it never comes back, then I'd suggest killing it, going back to 2.0, exporting the db to a text file, then importing it into 2.5 as the most foolproof way to get up and running on 2.5 if the conversion fails.

Update... it's still the same.   And, I'm doubting anything will happen.  It's only using 5,500k of memory... which is on par with all of the other non-running apps.

Marc - Appreciate the workaround... I'll give it a go if nothing happens overnight.

On a side note... I know there are lots of debate / discussion for feature requests and so forth... but is there a publicly posted roadmap for Pro?  What is the goal for Pro?  What will be it's position in the marketplace?

I know some / most of that is considered company info... and not going to be released... but figured I could ask.

Finally killed the program this morning... and then restarted 2.5... and everything appears to be working fine for now.

I did not do the db cataloging... just letting it do it's thing as I browse around.

My custom categories are available to choose from... but the images do not show that they have any categories assigned... but keywords are present and accounted for on the one's I've checked.  Even looks like my image rankings are intact.
