Hi guys, I've just been working on this. Here's how it will work in the next release:
The default behavior is the same as it is in the 2.5 release. The pan position is preserved going from one image to the next, so if you pan to the bottom left corner of one image and flip to the next image, it will be showing the bottom left corner of the next image. This allows you to easily flip back and forth between two images and compare the same pixels.
The pan lock is now back. If you want to have each image appear panned to the top left corner, just open one image, scroll to the top left and turn on the pan lock. From now on your images will all show up panned to the top left corner.
I've also refined the way the pan lock works, which should make things better for you guys. If you have your zoom mode set to "actual size" and lock the pan position to the top left corner, you can open an image and pan around, zoom in and out, etc, then flip to the next image and you'll be back to a 100% view of the top left corner of the next image. The pan lock now respects the zoom mode (actual size, fit width, etc.), which it didn't in Pro 2.
I think the new system can do pretty much everything you could want. Pro 2/ACDSee 10 wasn't perfect, Pro 2.5/ACDSee 2009 did some stuff better but took away some functionality, and the next update will have the best of both versions.
This will also work for your workflow Ghost Rider, you can set the zoom mode to Fit Width, scroll to the top and turn on the pan lock. Now all your images will show up scrolled to the top, hopefully reducing the amount of moaning around the office.
Tony.
