This message: "The source data format is not recognized." I receive when I try to open any of registered file formats (jpg, tar, psd files).

My program is broken - somewhere on the level of format registration.

When I reinstal Acdsee 3, it work's again .. but only for a limited time - several restarts.

I'm unable to track whats the reason. Support from Acdsee ends on notice> Windows 7 are not supported.

    Running on> Windows 7 RC 64bit.

I have no idea what can be the problem, please help - any recomendations are welcomed.

Often that message shows up for files that for whatever have been quarantined. Check "tool-database-quarantine files" and see if those files are listed there.  If so, then that doens't the answer of how they got there, but it at least gives you a workaround - remove them from quarantine.

Quarantine files box was empty, but when I've opened it and just closed in unchanged - problem was solved! I  see my photos again - Interesting :)

    Anyway, thanks a lot!

I've had a similar experience when trying to process files within folders that had non-image files included. In my case the non-image files included .pts (PTGui) and .hdr (Photomatix). I've reported this to ACDSee and I've been told their developers are working on the issue.

I have seen this message displayed for large TIFF and PSD files (especially anything over 250MB). I guess ACDSee Pro knows it had a problem viewing the file and adds it to the Quarantine or otherwise stores in database as a bad file. But it may not be the format at all - may just be a size issue.

I had the issue of; "the source data format is not recognized..." on over 1300 jpegs.

Received "access denied or ... being used by another program or person"

After days of searching, I was able to work around it by using a softie called Unlocker to move them all to another drive on my computer. Hooray! No more blank images.
