Maybe I´m going in a totally wrong direction but...
I came across some postings were ACDsee was looking for raw test files to be able to support new camera models. I remember Canon 40D and the still not supported Canon G9
Many ask why other companies are already supporting new models that have not be seen in stores yet while ACDsee is still not supporting models people already have in their hands.
Often Adobe is stated in those posts and that they have better opportunities because of their size.
Today I surfed on the European canon website to get some information about camera models and I tripped on something called "Digital Imaging Developer Programme"
You can find the starting page here.
And you can register here even as a private person.
The first thing you notice on the join page is that you can choose all models that you would like to support i.e. in your application.
I wonder if ACDsee has joined one of those programs from Canon?
I am sure that companies in that program which is also available in the US will receive information about upcoming models and detailed information about raw formats and how to support them. No need to buy every camera you want to support or ask users for raw files </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
If ACDsee would be in that program (and I don´t know if they are so this is also a question) I could imagine it would be much easier and faster to give raw support even for the most actual models,.. at least for Canon in this case.
Right?
