Slow Thumbnails

  Pro 3 generates thumbnails lightning fast on my PC.  Even with large folders containing hundreds of files.  But only with JPG files.  Now that I am starting to work with larger TIF files, I'm experiencing long waits while I wait for a folder with only a few TIFs to appear in the browser.  I've been told that this is not unusual but I am hoping that someone can explain what it is about TIFs that causes this to happen.  My goal, of course, is to find a way to speed things up because, while it is not a major issue now, it will become a real problem as I continue to add more and more TIFs.
