Projects can easily be saved for uploading to the web as jpeg, gif or png files.

    How do we do this?

I have a standard sized (12"x12", 300ppi) digital scrapbook layout that I've made from PSD file type digital papers and elements. When I click on Save To Web and reduce the quality to 50%, color depth to 16 and the pixel size to 600, I'm still left with a file that's 3 times what it should be for posting to the web. I'm looking for a file that is 600 pixels square and that has a file size of around 180k to 220k.

Normally, in Photoshop, I would take my flattend, full sized scrapbook layout and change the image size to a web friendly 72ppi and adjust down to 600pixels square, then save at a medium quality and I'd be right there at the file size I want.

How do I change the resolution on a finished layout in this beta version of the new Photo Editor, or adjust it so that I can post it on the web without the image being smaller than 600pixels but still have a file size under 250k?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you saved your layout as a jpg?
If you have ACDSee Photo Manager - use the resize feature there.

I'll have to check into this.

    Hi jac,

If it were me, I'd save as with a similar file name. Then I'd adjust the work area and change the resolution to 72 dpi. Then export to web. But again, that's just me. I also use Canvas and can resize easily using the Resolution dialog box.

I would expect that if I chose "save to web" that that it would convert it down to the appropriate size needed especially if there was a new save to web option for size wanted.

But Save to Web doesn't reduce digital layouts to small enough size for web uploading.
It sounds like what you are doing is affecting the layers. I wouldn't want to do that because then it will affect your printing of it.

For layouts (psd or apd files) I still am required to save as/convert to a jpg and then resize that down appropriately.

I was using it just fine for the most part. It wasn't reporting the files size accurately and sometime it took several tries as I was having to guestimate to get the file small enough. But last night I tried 4 or 5 time to use 'save to web' and it just would not work! I got so frustrated! It converted to jpeg but left the page at 3600x3600 even after I set it to 500x500 and applied the change! I had to manually take one of the large res. copies and reduce it to 500x500. Kind of defeats the purpose of the 'save to web' feature. Oh, it did change the ppi...those 3600x3600 versions at 72 ppi were 50 inches square! There were no error messages or anything to report on, it just didn't work right. And I've been using it successfully throughout the whole Amazing Digi Scrapping Race.
