Resizing /Batch Edit Tool

    Hi Community,

I noticed that the resizing function within the Batch Edit Tool doesn't offer constraining the image within width AND height, as opposed to the normal resizing function which doesn't offer selecting the resampling method.

As is, I need 2 Batch processes to resize (and watermark etc) pictures with the Batch Edit Tool, separately for landscape and portrait images, which is not quite super bad, but annoying nonetheless.

Is there a setting I may have overlooked, or is this a shortcoming I'll have to live with (and just might get fixed someday, hint, hint ;) )?

    Thanks!

I came into the forum today to make this exact same post.  My sentiments exactly.  I am having to resize and watermark images for a customer, and have to do it in 2 steps because batch in edit processing doesn't offer the same constraints as 'batch resize'.

It's almost like 2 different programmers programmed the funtions without anyone overseeing the process or any communication between programmers.

I'm on the same page as tdi. Come on, this is the PRO version and this 'bug' exist for ages!

Also while watermarking it's not possbile to centre the watermark when having different image sizes like portrait or landscape which is VERY common. How easy is it to make an extra checkmark for 'centre vertically' and 'centre horizontally'?

These are to tiny and easy to fix functions that lead to major annoyance on the user side!

With center vertically/horizontally I mean based on the actual image dimension of EACH image not like it is now - using the first image and presuming that all following pictures have the same dimensions. Seriously, who's idea was that?

Looking forward for an update to otherwise a very nice image browser.

Same here. Big annoyance that I noticed right form the first time I tried batch resizing. I posted a rant here: http://community.acdsee.com/forums/topic/batch-processing-–-best-practice#post-44168

I figure that too much of the older parts of the program were reused. That's common in software. Instead of making it right, they focus on the big changes, stuff that is visible and sell, and then they fix the rest in the next version. OR they can release a patch that fixes it. In this case I doubt that it will happen though since it means messing with a complete module. But let's keep out fingers crossed. A fix would greatly improve usability. The batch edit wizard is useless right now and you must do the workaround with tiff files and several batch commands.
