Resize function to allow BOTH width and height constraints

When doing some batch resizing I would like to be able to set both the width and height constraints and not one or the other.

The way it works now, I have to select all of the landscape orientated photos and batch resize using the width limit... and then reselect all of the portrait orientations and use the height to constrain them.

When I'm doing batch resizes like this, it's for online display and I already know that I want my images to fit within a set "box" size of say 800x600... and it would go faster if I could just say "resize all of these images to fit within this box".

  • "Tools > Batch > Resize" and "Resize" in "Tools > Batch > Edit" offer different options, and I've never understood why. (The first method allows you to resize as you want, but doesn't offer different re-sampling options, for example.)

I don't see why all the same options aren't available in both. If I just want to resize I can use either, but if I want to process AND resize (especially if I want to save them as a Jpegs) I don't want to have to do this in two separate steps.

I hadn't noted that difference... but it is a bit odd as well.

The "Tools > Batch > Resize" function works like I want... but can only be used when starting with non-raws.

For batching raws like dng I have to use "Tools > Batch > Edit" and adjust the resize there.

On top of that... I very often want to output two different image sizes... one "higher" resolution as the primary display... but also a reduced image size for a "thumbnail".

In "Tools > Batch > Develop" there is an option for "Export files to another format" and when that is selected and you click on "Options" you can choose multiple file formats and mutliple sizes of each format (with the resizing options that I'd want)...

The problem is that I haven't figured out how to get this to work without it changing the Development settings that I've already gone through.

I REALLY would love to either...

     - learn how to "null" the development settings so that the image remains as I left it

     - access this batch export function directly

    Please...
