Relink hundreds of folders?

My hard disk failed, and I've restored all of my images to another drive. When I try to access any image through categories, I get the message "item located on unmounted volume". I've read the FAQ, "Why does ACDSee inform me that my local hard drive is 'not mounted'?". It appears I could relink each folder to the same folder on the new volume (which is also only temporary until I rebuild my storage structure). However, I have hundreds of folders. Tech support told me this was the only way.

Has anyone discovered a better way to resolve this problem? Relinking hundreds of folders one at a time sounds daunting and error prone...

    Thanks.

    Just a wild guess, maybe

    > Click Database, and then select Database Maintenance. Change Bindings may help...??

    > Change Binding: Changes all location references for the selected orphaned folder to
another folder, and retains all database information. The default binding folder is My
    Pictures.

    just an idea only.

  • Sounds right to me. That should do it all in one go (as the file structure should be the same).

On my laptop my pictures are on C: but on D: my desktop. So when I copied the database over, ACDSee couldn't find the pictures, but a single Binding Change did the trick.

I tried the Binding and it didn't work. I've moved my actual files from on HDD to a new one.  I had images in HDD1:Images and now they are on HDD2:Photos

The only thing changed is the "root" folder.  I selected Photos and chose Rebind, but still when I do a search for images via keywords, I still get an error that the original can't be found.  When I try to rebind it to Photos it says an error occurred.  Any ideas? Do I have to drill down to each folder of images?

What if you changed the name of the root folder on HDD2 to Images, made sure the bindings got re-established like you want, and then rename the root folder back to Photos in ACD?  I didn't try it, but I would think that if ACD sees the rename, the bindings would all be updated???
