RAW processing - major bug with Canon 5D MII, maybe others

There is a very serious bug with raw processing and Canon 5D Mark II. It probably affects more cameras, but this is the only one I've extensively tested. After you process a raw image and click done you cannot apply last preset to any other photos, or even just click on any other raw photo, because the first photo that was being processed will become corrupt and unusable. And this is the strangest aspect of the bug – I know ACDSee doesn’t modify the RAW file itself, but even after I delete the corresponding XMP file or even delete the whole database, the RAW file still produces Source data format is not recognized error. Sometimes, however, it manages to display the photo, but often times it is just empty. Other times the bug kicks in within the batch conversion to JPEG and displays Internal processing error. Basically the bug renders the program useless for a Canon 5D RAW enthusiast. I have so far managed to produce it every single time I start the program on 4 computers, all Vista, ranging from 2GBs to 16GBs of RAM.

My 40D RAWs produce it also, but much more rarely.

What is worse, I went back to ACDSee Pro 2.5 and it produces exactly the same bug in exactly the same way.

As it should be, the RAW files are actually untouched and process normally in other software.

If you can find a place to upload the RAW file (not sure if the attachment facility on this forum will work?), I'm happy to try to reproduce this - sounds like it happens every time for you for certain files?

BTW, the reason you get the "source format not recognized" error is that after choking on an image, ACDSee places it into Quarantine, which prevents ACDSee from even trying to work with those files in the future.  You can view a list of your Quarantined files via tools->database->quarantine files, and you can then remove thm from quarantine if you'd like to try accessing them again.

Thank you very much for your answer and info on the quarantine aspect of the database. There is no need for me to upload RAW files for you, because I can now confirm this is unfortunately a random bug. I have removed all my files from the quarantine and they process normally this time. However, 10 new files produced the error now. After switching off the quarantine function altogether and restarting the program they processed normally as well. It seems to be a RAW plug-in or memory bug of a more serious nature. Also, it occurs after about 5 processed RAW photos on every computer I've tried, regardless of memory size or disk space. It is very frustrating and hopefully it will be resolved in the final 3.0 version.
