Pro Beta 1-1-148 on Snow Leopard application not responding

I've downloaded ACDSee acdseeprobeta-1-1-148-mac-en for Mac, OS X Snow Leopard, Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 4 GB.

The install worked fine, I just dragged the camera icon to the application folder icon.

However, when I try to run, I just get a camera icon in the Dock, at first bobbing back and forth, then  just static.  It displays no now menu bar or window.  Activity Monitor says ACDSee is Unresponsive.  So I've killed the process.

I've tried this a number of times.  Any ideas?

    Hi there,

We've recently learned it's not working on OS X 10.6.  It should be fine for 10.5 or later versions of 10.5.x and we're working on making it compatible for 10.6 for our next beta release (date to be determined).  It's still beta software and we're continually making improvements.  Thanks for posting your issue.

Thank you for the update. I am also trying to run the beta version on Snow Leopard. Kind of a problem when the software does not run with the most up to date platform it is supposed to work on?

Kind of hard to call it a "Pro" application (especially for photography) when there still is not a working version for a mac. . . and that the PC one was out first.

Wasted time downloading the beta, figuring out it didnt work, and then going here to find out it wont even work with 10.6! I saw an article about your program in outdoor photog, and it got great reviews, but I cant evaluate the product for purchase when it wont run!

    Hi,

look, same problem occurred with me, I thought yippee, acdsee for Mac finally, fair enough , Beta, but still, having recently moved form PC to Mac ( don't get me started ) I was stoked to see Acdsee wised up and made a vwersion available for MAc users ( the mac viewer software just doesn't cut it ) but then yeah after downloading etc..it does not even work, and yes, it took a while to figure out why via this forum.
So guys, what's up, I 'm ready to purchase this software, I'm currently working on both PC and Mac, purely cause of the ease of workflow for me with Acdsee, but can we please speed this up for Mac, as I 'm sick of starting up 2 computers everyday when it can all be done on one ( no, I will not just use pc, as I don't want to know about vista, I said don't get me started )
so please, ping me a release date, so I can order

    :-)

    Melanie,

Thanks, I've just downloaded and installed the Beta from your link.  I suppose there is progress of sorts.  I do now see a browser, and I can navigate to my photo folders.

However, right clicking on one particular JPEG froze ACDSee, requiring a Force Quit, which I tried twice and saw the same behavior.

Double clicking a Canon 40D sRAW file brought up Adobe Photoshop, however no file was opened.

I was able to use the Batch convert to convert some Canon G10 RAW files to JPEG.  However, where do I access the RAW converter settings?

Perhaps I am missing some major portion of the user interface, but how do I access EXIF data, assign keywords and captions, make global edits, adjust RAW parameters, import/copy/backup images, etc?  This version seems little more than a re-branded Finder at first glance.  I don't see a Help system, except for menu help.  What am I missing?

Thanks again for posting the link.

well ... for me it works .... not as useful as the windows-version ... but working.

What is the best way of importing photos and/or videos from my iphone and my camera to my mac with acdsee?

I have it working on snow leopard but it is very limited.  No editing or printing.  Now in Iphoto I have problem in that files show in thumbs but have gone away when selecting to view, edit or print.  What to do?  Wait for a version that does these things or pull images back from a backup on another drive, I don't know.  I think I'll wait and see what ACDSee does.
