On-line Registration issues

  • Today I received an e-mail suggesting I might want to register my product on-line. This raised a number of issues:

Why, I wonder, should I need to register, since I have already done so? Anyway, nothing to lose, I thought, so I decided to give it a go.

Then I find that the box for my licence number big enough to see it all once entered. I again wonder why, unless the clue in the next issue.

After entering the required information, I'm I told that my licence code is invalid. I carefully check it against the info in "About" in the version of Pro v2 I have on this computer and try again. Still invalid, so I try omitting the hyphens. For a third time I'm told the licence code is invalid.

However, if my code is invalid, why have I received three response e-mails confirming my registration?

Then I note that each e-mail states a different temporary password, so I ask myself: Am I now registered? If yes, am I registered once or three times? If once, which password do I use, or can I use any of the three?

To say I'm confused would be an understatement. Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what on earth is going on?

I've already registered my software too.
This registration is specifically for the new "enhanced technical support" section.
(Many software companies do this to ensure only legitimate customers have access to support channels, and so they don't expend time and resources supporting non-paying users or legacy users.)
It's separate from other registrations like the forum. I imagine it's being done this way because it's easier than compiling past software registrations, and to make the registration database more current.

I had no issues during the registration process. I didn't enter a password and the confirmation e-mail provided a generated one. I logged in and changed it, and filled out my customer info page.

Try logging in, and see if it works.
If not, time for a support ticket.

Got the same email today. Tried to register, had the same problem. Said my licence number was invalid.

But I was able to log in here on the ADC site. so I guess they still recognise my first registration.

I registered my ADC software when I purchased it so I don't understand why months later I got this email asking me to register. Is this just something else to confuse us or is it going to cause problems with support or updates when they become availible.

  • I too was informed my license code was invalid multiple times after entering it with and without the hyphens but unlike John, I did not receive multiple response e-mails confirming my registration.

  • Well I logged in successfully (FWIW, using the last tempory password I'd received), and there before me was a list of all the products I've registered in the past, together with the registration codes (hyphens and all), including the very one for v2 that I had (correctly) entered.

  • wtburnett,

The new registration applies to the option to "Log in to My Account" on the Support page (click the "Support" linkat the top of this screen), not to here on the Forums.
