Multi-Page Images

I've got many '000s of .tif files from scanning my slides and negatives from about a year ago. Nikon Scan has saved them as .tif files with 2 pages each. I don't know exactly what that means except that ACDSee Pro 3 won't develop multi-page images. Is there some way I can get rid of the extra page? If so should I and which page should it be?

    Thanks for the help.

Perhaps Nikon scan means  2 layers , as tiffs can be saved as  multi-layered. If you have Adobe Photoshop or another program that recognises tiffs you might be able to flatten the image making it a single layer (page)?

Are pages in a .tif file the same as layers in other file types?

You will proberly find that the second page if you click on it is a small embeded thumbnail if memory serves me right from the last time i use my Nikon coolscan.

I'm not sure why Pro 3 will not handle it, but your only other option is to batch resave them as tiffs again in Photoshop/Elements or other editing program . Or you could try using batch file converter in Pro3  and see if that gets rid of the thumbnail page.

Thanks OlyPaul. I used ExifTool to confirm that the second page is certainly much smaller than the first page (600x800 I think) so, yes, I guess its a thumbnail. I tried the ACDSee batch converter on a single image to only process the first page and it worked fine. Now I'll have to go through that process for any of the scanned images that I want to adjust with ACDSee.

    Many thanks for your help.
