Moving an image after viewing

I often carry out the followng steps:

    1) Scroll down a folder in manage mode and select an image

    2) Go to View

    3) Return to Manage

    4) Move the image to another location in the folder

After the last step the pointer immediately moves to the first image in the folder and I have to scroll down to find the image I had just moved.

I  find this behaviour inconvenient especially when working in a folder containing a large number of images.  It did not happen in Pro2.5.  I am running Vista64.

I would welcome any suggestions on solution.

    Could this be a bug?

  • Yes, it's a bug.

Not that it has been acknowledged as such here on the forums by anyone from ACD Systems, but I feel confident that it's the same problem that I and a few other users reported in the Bugs Forum for Beta 2. It wasn't fixed in the release version.

In my case, every time I add a new image to a folder and then try to re-sort into Filename order I lose the selection (the Properties pane will state "No Selection"), and then have to find the image again. I've also occasionally seen it in other circumstances, but as those only occur occasionally I haven't pinned down the exact scenario. When adding new images, however, it happens EVERY time.

In your case it seems to be triggered by doing a Custom Sort.

FWIW, I find I often lose my selection on a resort even when I haven't added any images since the last sort.  Not sure what triggers it, but when it happens, it always happens in that folder, and when it doesn't, it never does.

Sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean by that.

In v2.5 I never lost the selection, but when re-sorting after adding an image the selection frequently (but not always) changed, and the selected image would be 1 to 4 images away from the previously selected one. In v3, however, the "lost selection bug" shows up EVERY TIME I re-sort after adding an image (as well as on some other occasions).

Yeah, that was pretty unclear.  I mean that once I get in the state where the bug happens, it becomes completely repeatable as long as I'm in that folder.  If on the other hand I change to another folder where it doesn't happen, it continues to not happen over and over.  And actually, after a restart, or perhaps a change in the weather (not sure which is the actual trigger), even a folder that gave me problems the previous day might not do so any more.

Right; I'm only talking about the 'some other occasions", since I virtually never add images to the folder I'm in.
