Memory Leak, Memory problem

Since v2.0 ACDSee has a memory problem. THis is not existing in V8.0.

While the problem has been reviewed, it seems that the programmers don't care or don't find the problem.

It is very easy to observe the leak.

    1. Add 50 or 60 avi or other movie files in a folder (these files are larger and create the memory overload faster than images)
    2. open task manager and view the processes tab.
    3. Start viewing the movie files and proceed to the next.

You see after each movie is loaded the memory is used more. Until there is 400-600 Mb in use. it is time for ACDsee to freeze, crash or stop working.

Dear ACDsee people. Please take a look at your codes anc compare it with version 8. There is no such problem in that older version.

    Best Regards

Its interesting that Canvas 12 also suffers from this same thing (from my obversations).  I know they come from different backgrounds, but they are owned by same company.
I'd suggest they look at Canvas also and fix that too please.
This instability is not good in modern programs running on fast computers.  Not expected behaviour.

thought i'd better correct something - in case anyone reads this and wonders!!  I'm actaully referring to version 11, not 12.  But the problem is still the same.

Wonder if anyone from ACDSee actually reads these? And also if they actually address the issues?

    Hello Chris,

thank you for reporting this problem in such a nice way. I read about it some times know but was never able to draw a conclusion out of it. I will pass your findings to development and see what they comment on it.

If I hear from them I will get back here.

What about Canvas - you make no mention of recognising that this also suffers from similar 'leaks'?
I find it strange that this doesn't get recognised!

One could be cynical and read - 'Oh Canvas - those  - winging again'.
Well thats not the case - I am simply reporting an unfortunate existence that also happens to be an ACDSee product - just as is the one mentioned above.

    regards

Seeing there is no comment here from the moderators, I ask again that these 'Leaks' in Canvas be also reported - this may not be a CANVAS Forum, but it is a common issue with a common brand of software - IE a byproduct of ACDSee.

Please advise the appropriate area that we have other programs in the arsenal that also "LEAK".

Maybe they could also seek input from others user of other applications and round em all up.

    regards
    Richard
