Match any/Match all only applies to Categories and Ratings, not to Auto Categories. Auto Categories is designed to always returns 'match any' type results.

Any particular reason why? It seems to me it would be easier for the same set of criteria to apply to all categories -- auto or otherwise. Hmmm...

It does applie to the keywords in Auto Categories. It does not applie to the Ratings: you can't see pictures matching both ratings 2 and 3.
Well, anyway ACDsee can't accept rating 2 AND 3 for a picture. Personnaly, I think it's a pity. It would be usefull to be allowed to give severall figures to a picture. Then, it could be used as a kind of abbreviated categories: the different overlay icons are very visual: you can see at a glance the pictures with particular figures.

I would say the layout of the Categories pane does not make this fact at all intuitive.

BTW, this is really unrelated, but since it touches on a couple of other points made on this thread - I'd sure love to see a simple way to select or filter on ratings "x *and above*". I doubt I *ever* care to see *only* my 3-star images - it is virtually *always* 3 & above I care about. Yes, I can get this using Match Any and selecting 3, 4, and 5, but this strikes me as more work than it should be. I think the most straightforward thing would be to change the "Filter by" options to say "2 and above", "3 and above", etc. Or at least provide that as an option.
