Manage mode / Copy to Folder

  • I've never used this command with previous versions of ACDSee, but I've been trying it out with Pro3 as it should copy all the appropriate files (Developed or Edited, Original and any XMP files) at the same time, although I'm aware that at the moment it doesn't deal with the XMP files (see another thread here and the Release Notes).

But my question is about how it renames files when one with the same name already exists in the target folder. When copying to a different folder, Pro3 will append a "version number" (such as "_2"), but when copying to the same folder (target folder = source) it prefixes "Copy of ".

I'd much prefer it to use the former system in both cases. Does anyone know why it doesn't?

  • IMO an enhancement to this function would deal with a problem users have noted elsewhere, i.e. add a checkbox to allow just the selected image(s) to be copied BUT NOT any corresponding Original(s) or XMP file(s).

The option could be worded either way: "Also copy Original and XMP file(s)" (and be on by default), or "Do not copy ..." (and be off by default). (A similar option wouldn't be needed for Rename, Move or Delete, as I can't envisage a situation in those cases where you'd not want to apply the operation to all the relevant files.)
