Develop = Ctl + Alt + D
Edit = Ctl + Alt + E
All the keyboard shortcuts are customizable if you want to change them. Use the Toolbar Options. They are accessed by clicking the very tiny down arrow at the right of the toolbar.
LV, thanks but i see no option to assign a shortcut for the top right new 'modes' MANAGE, VIEW, PROCESS, ONLINE.
Bitkahuna - Just because you don't see any pop-up help doesn't mean the shortcut keys don't exist. There's actually a very long list of shortcut keys in Help.
Back to your original question, you jump from Manage to View and back with the ENTER key. The shortcuts I already mentioned for Develop and Edit take care of Process (which is simply the collective name for Develop/Edit). I'm not sure about Online, haven't used it yet. Good luck.
Note Develop and Edit are the two sub-modes of Process mode - so keyboard shortcuts to Develop and Edit *are* shortcuts to Process mode, and you can indeed customize them to whatever you like via the toolbar customization facility.
BTW, unless you have a specific reason to need Edit You should be in the habit of using develop mode for most editing, as its non-destructive "parametric" editing capabilities are a huge step up from the old-style interface provided by Edit mode. But edit mode is still needed for operations on selected areas of an image, including things like heal & clone and red-eye correction.
As for View and Manage mode, I don't know if there are customizable shortcuts ther,e but Enter takes you back and forth between those two. To get back to view or Manage mode from one of the Process modes, though, you need to click Done or Cancel. Simply changing modes to leave Process wouldn't as wise it might seem at first, because you wouldn't be making clear whether you intent is to commit (Done) or abandon (Cancel) the current processing.
thank you LV and Marc for the info, that helps.
LV - i *had* the extensive list of shortcuts in the help before posting so no need to assume i didn't. i know about RTFM being in the computer software business myself.
Marc, the non-destructive 'Develop' mode is good, but why doesn't it include resize when it includes all of the other 'geometry' adjustments? i don't see my workflow as that unusual in prepping images for the web for example... levels, crop, sharpness, RESIZE is typical. and when i'm done i 'save as' because i need an actual new file, not just settings for the original, so i do 'save as' yet after that i click done and still get the 'save changes / discard' box, i assume because it want's to know if want to save 'develop' params although if i've resized which isn't in develop mode, i WILL be trashing the original by saving, correct?
sorry... still not feeling the new ui. i see the 'intent' but i think it's awkward.
Bitkahuna - RTFM was not exactly what I had in mind. Sorry if it came across that way. On your Geometry suggestion, I agree that some additions, like Resize, would be helpful. I'd particularly like Canvas Size.
FYI, Save As in Pro3 has been altered to behave more like "Save a Copy" than the classic Save As we are all used to. There has been a lot of push-back on this. Users are hoping for a timely Pro3 update which would provide a choice of Save behaviors.......Save As vs. Save a Copy.

Right. and the way you do this in Pro 3 - or any non-destructive editor, really - is to do everything *except* the resize in the non-destructive editor, never hitting Save or Save As but simply doing your processing and moving from file to file, copying settings, applying presets, and so forth. And then, when you're all done, you hit Done to leave Develop mode and run a batch operation to generate resized copies of your images. I use Batch Edit for this because I like it's options for naming and placing the files, but you can also use Batch Resize if you prefer.

Yeah, unfortunately, "Save As" is actually "Save A Copy", as Bill says. But should be a non-issue here, since you don't want to be hitting that button at all - that's part of the power and beauty of Develop mode. There are certain relatively rare cases where you would need to use Save As (rare for most of us; Bill's workflow is a bit unsual, and it's common for him), and yes, we'd like to see Save As function as expected. But what you are describing is definitely *not* the sort of rare case in which you'd ever need to touch the Save button.
