The moise over preview in very usefull but also very anoying when you are manageing files. i.e. I had to select lots of files to rotate and it was annoying having the preview popu as I was moving around Ctrl Clicking.

Is there a way of turning it off preferabley by a toggle keyboard command.

I have used it very positivly when selecting images as I can have smaller thumbnails, that is why I would preffer a quick toggle on and off

I have a feeling that the preview pop-ups are controlled by the "show info tips" check-box in the options. However, I do not manage to see the info tips on my screen at all - it looks like the preview pop-ups competely replaced the info-tips. Do I miss something?

arvils is right. You can enable/disable and configure the info tips (including the mouseover preview thumbnail) under TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILE LIST. However, there does not seem to be a quick keyboard shortcut to toggle it.

  • arvils,

Tools > Options > File List

    The relevant options are:

"Show info tips ..." > Turns the Tips on or off.

"Auto hide ..." > If selected, the Tips disappear after a short time (as they used to in previous versions); if unselected they remain visible for as long as the mouse is on the thumbnail.

"Show text ..." > This is what you used to get in previous versions (use the "Configure ..." button to choose what you want to see).

"Show thumbnails ..." > I.e. the larger "preview" version.

Instant preview is a very good idea but it shoud be easily turned off/on with a shortcut key. Please make such a shortcut available in the next beta. It will really come in handy.

Thanks have turned them of for now as i am doing a lot of file management and they just get in the way. As a Photoshop and lightroom user i still revert to ACDsee for my file management and quick corrections. Using the INstant Preview would be very useful for identifying the blurred photos etc. so again a quick on and off shortcut key would be great.

Well, for the time being, I think the fastest way to toggle this feature is using the keyboard shortcut ALT + O for opening the options window and then toggling the preview switch. ALT + O opens the options dialogue in the last visited section, so if you don't use other sections of options regularly you should immediately have the switch available.
