I have just installed the beta and have a few prelim questions.

    1.  Is there a way to have a larger view of the photos right in the manage panel, without having to switch over?  i liked how my pc versions always had everything on one screen, unless i wanted to go full screen, which only required you to hit return.

    2. Is there a way to easily move/copy photos to other folders as there was in the pc version?  i used to be able to hit control-m or control-c to move or copy a file.  i don't see any right mouse click capabilities in the full screen or view panel.

Thanks.  I am sure i will have more questions as i go.

(on a positive note, so far i love the speed in accessing my photos.  no waiting for a bunch of stuff to load.  that is great!)

I know this is probably obvious, but for the life of me I'm not seeing it:  Where is the image size shown?

Lampmeister, I see it under the EXIF info in the properties section.  it is under two separate lines, Pixel Y Dimension and Pixel X Dimension.

That did the trick.  Thanks, dancourcy!

My initial thoughts?  It's fast!  I loaded a folder that contained over 7000 images, and it had to chew on it for a few seconds, but over-all it appears to handle most tasks quickly.

    first impressiom: great:

    pros:

    appearance all over

    foldertree

    menu guiding

    thumbnail-slider

...and some i didn' see yet

    cons:

    1. miss the "Enter"  manage/wiev-zapping-function -e.g. alpha-enter-key= fullwindow, num-enter-key= fullscreen,forward and backward

    2. miss the turn off organize/propeties-function (for more space on monitor) ....just found :-) =alt+cmd+i

    3. miss the sort by date/name/size/properties/path-function

    4. miss the drag and drop inside an open window (sort pics)

    5.  miss the direct acdsee-link in the menu

    6. miss the rightclick-batch-function

    7. miss the keyboard-shortcut list (maybe a popup-window would help)

    8. miss the mousewheel- and the 9+3 num. -fullscreen-viewing

all in all a great beta-version, go on and thank you.... :-)

p.s. miss some smilies in the forum

As dancourcy and leton53 wrote, the first thing I noticed and I 'm missing is the possibility to look at a picture and then go back to the manager window.

At the moment I select the picture, hit return, go to the View mode - which I actually don't need much often - but then I can't easily go back to the manager view, as I have to click on the top right button. This makes the process of browsing through images not very smooth.

I would prefer a behaviour similar to the PC version: hit return -> see the image (full screen or not) hit return -> go back to the browser.

Another thing: when viewing images in "View" mode and with the "Actual Size" option activated, only the bottom section of the images is displayed - I'd prefer to see the top, useful especially when viewing screenshots.

I agree, although I like the enter to open then enter to fullscreen. But like you say pressing escape to come back out would be preferable.

The only thing that I miss from other versions is that you can zoom in part of a photo. I use to make a box then click on in to zoom into that area, but thank god this has finally come out

Simply love this version. Would love to go to full screen viewing on double clicking the image, and getting back to the Manage screen on exiting full screen view.

As reported earlier, would also like to scroll through the images in full screen view with the mouse wheel.

I agree, Lampmeister. I loaded a folder of my entire collection containing over 12,000 images, all of which are on an external hard drive. It took only seconds for them all to appear with the corresponding numbers of items in the folder. What a difference compared to waiting for catalogues to load and update in other programs.

Not quite as fast as I at first thought, but still great. I just realized that it loaded only the images within the main folder, not all the images in each of the subfolders. It does this only when I click on them. This is still great because I get them loaded only as I need them. Compared to other programs where I'd have to wait for the entire collection to load, this is a huge improvement.

Very pleased to have the beta installed in my Mac.  Looking forward to the implementation of more features.  I hope there will be a change log kept up to date so it'll be easier to follow the progress.

Its fast which is a key feature.  The Preview Pane like in PC versions is a must for me.  It would slow my workflow down having to constantly switch back and forth.  Not much else in this beta so I will wait until the next substantial build to try again.

OK You're off to a good start.  Now start adding the features of the Windows version - preview window, directory expansion, editing, special effects.  Looking forward to more capabilities soon.

First impression: Good start. I can only second what was said before. In addition I got used to a lot of short cuts eg. Control R for resize. cmd-R now rotates. It's confusing. But I might just have to get used to the fact that the MAC has different short cuts then a PC.

Also I miss the pop-up when hoovering with the mouse over a thumbnail. It was the easiest way to get the file properties fast.

I'm looking forward to the final release!

I just downloaded it and so far I am very happy.  I think it is so much better than iPhoto.  Some comments I have though are (and forgive me if they were discussed already):

    1. If I go to my pictures folder and then open an album I have, it will launch ACDSee and I can scroll through the pictures like a slideshow.  I like this, A LOT!!

    2. The concern I have with that is this.  After I am done looking at the album and lets say I X out of ACDSee, but it's still running on my dock, why is it that if I go to my pictures folder, pick a differnt album, and then click on one picture ACDSee never pops back open to let me view the picture?  I wonder if I should submt this as a bug....
