How to regenerate ALL thumbnails without opening folders?

(4 posts)
  • I've just upgraded to 3.0 and chose to redo all my databases to start from scratch.

How can I have ACDSee regenerate thumbnails *automatically* in the background or when I am away from my computer?

I have tens of thousands of images in hundreds of folders. Now, every time I open a folder I have to wait many minutes for thumbs to generate. There must be a way to do this for ALL my folders without me watching, yes?

    Thank you!

Tools->Database->Catalog Files.  Doesn't run in background, but can run overnight.  Although some report problems running it on too man files at once - I'd recommend running it on a few thousands pictures at a time (by specifying appropriate top level folders).

  • Thanks Marc! You're up early on Sunday! (-:

I have a number of other questions...and I really want to LOVE Pro 3.0...but it's been a bumpy ride so far. Much worse than going from Word 97 to Word 2003...and that was super annoying. Let's not even talk about going from XP to Vista! More queries coming...

  • Update - This process works great. I did it with a folder collection containing 6,257 images and then with a set containing 13,767 images. Thank you!
