How do I work with, edit, & convert multi-page TIFFs?

    Hi!

My network-attached printer/scanner (a Dell 968 AIO) and driver software will apparently ONLY return multi-page TIFF files when you scan multiple pages through its automatic document feeder. This would be okay if multi-page TIFF files were able to be worked with in a sensible fashion, but that sure doesn't seem to be the case!

First of all, of all the image processing apps on my computer (Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, etc, etc, etc) only ACDSee seems able to let you see and work with anything but page 1, no matter how many pages are actually present! What's up with that, anyway?

I need to create a single MS Word 97/2003 format doc file or single PDF file (I have the apps for creating both) that starts with a 4-page Word document and is followed by several scanned document pages, such that I can use the Internet Fax system I have that only accepts a single Word or PDF document.

But I've got this massive multi-page TIFF file that contains a few pages that are skewed and a few pages I don't want to include and a few pages out of order and such, and even though I can do several things with this apparently fairly strange format in ACDSee edit mode, I can't figure out how to fix those things I need to fix, such as to delete a few embedded pages, change a few of their orders, and then export/import them all into Word 2007 or ScanSoft PDF Creator 4 in order to construct the single document that contains just what I want so that I can send it via my Internet Fax system.

I've been trying to do this for a week now, and it's driving me insane! Please help!

    I'm using XP Pro / SP2.

If it were me, I'd first convert these documents from a single multi-page TIFF to individual files for each page (TIFF or otherwise). You can do this in ACDSee using Tools->(Batch) Convert File Format - after choosing he output file type and location, you are prompted as to what to do with multi-page images. Choose the "Split" option, which generates separate files for each page. Then you can edit with the files individually in ACDSee, and import them one at a time into whatever other application you want.
