Help! Canvas X Mac: Print and Save Menu Items Disabled

  • The Print and Save menu items have been disabled in Canvas X (925) running on my Intel MacBook Pro. I can open files but I can't print them or save changes. The File menu items "Save", "Save As...", "Print", etc. are disabled.

    I don't use Canvas often, so I don't know when the change occurred, or its root cause. I want to be able to print Canvas files at the minimum, and I must confess that I still use Canvas X from time to time.

  • Doh! I figured it out on my own. Somehow Canvas lost the license code entry. Re-entering the license code solved the problem. 

    Notes:

    1. You must have a document open. A blank document will do. Otherwise the License Manager menu item is disabled.

    2. Go to Help -> License Manager to enter the license.

    3. You must restart Canvas when you're done.

    4. In the past, I had Canvas set up to run from a non-privileged user account. I re-entered the license code from my Administrator account, and it was good for all accounts including my main (non-privileged) account. 

    (To run Canvas from non-privileged user accounts, you must copy the "ImageGear13.framework" from your administrator account ~/Library/Framworks to the root level directory - /Library/Framworks. See http://acdsystems.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/acdsystems.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=509.)

    Unfortunately this has bitten me several times in the past, I'm not always sure why. But now the procedure of reentering my serial number is no longer working. This time may have resulted from my recent upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.8. After I enter the serial number it provides confirmation that it's OK, but then when I restart Canvas it still shows only the demo license.

    I've tried reinstalling Canvas X 10, but all it does is beep at me after I enter my serial number.

    Any ideas?
