    Is there a way to get the keywords aplied to an image in the ACDSee database copied over automatically and in batch to the IPTC keyword field?

    Thanks for any help,

    Phil

    Hi Phil,  yes there is.  It's a long explanation.  But If you have time, I can write a set of instructions and maybe email it to you, however I won't be able to do this until after the weekend as I'm about to move house.

    Hi Phil / Heidi, sorry for the lengthy delay in getting back with a reply.  I was actually moving house the week I responded to you, and have only just gotten my things in order again.  The forum actually had posted at one time a fantastic article on DAM (Digital Asset Management) realting to using ACDSee's Dbase and standard IPTC information.  But for some reason it was later removed (that I can see).  Fortunately I printed and kept a copy of it.  For future new users I'll type up a new step by step process based on that article and submit it to the forum for reference, unless someone else has already done so.  Hope it all went well for you and sorry again for the short disappearing act.  Cheers.

    Myshot.

    In another thread I linked to some steps I made w/screenshots (Pro 3 beta). Maybe it will help someone. The screen shots are Pro 3, but the Batch Set Info dialog is the same.

    LINK

    The instructions are for IPTC to ACDSee database. But, you could take what you learn and apply it the other way, moving ACDSee Dbase keywords and setting the mapping on the IPTC Fields.

    BTW, my articles on DAM using ACDsee are still there on the blog.  Just go to blog.acdsee.com, click the "Pro Blog",  and search for "DAM".

    Hi Mark, thanks for that link. That's a really great article you wrote. Your help has streamlined my workflow like you wouldn't believe (actually you would). Thanks for taking the time to write it.  It's genuinely appreciaited.

    Mark, when I've batch set my info to IPTC, the EXIF date assigned to my Filename is also showing the time alongside the date (a visual annoyance). I want to remove the time component from this format as it's making the Filename quite long. Reading back over your article now, does your reference below solve this issue?

    Tools->Options->General, Date/Time output format
    select Custom, type “yyMMdd” in the Date box, and make sure the Time box is clear

    Tools->Options->Database, Database date
    set to EXIF Date

    If it does, I'll try that when I get home later tonight.

    I've also just finished writing up a ready-reference page taking all your improtant information and condensing it into a single Excel spreadsheet for quick reference purposes. It might help as a suppliment to your article after someone's read it. I can attach it later tonight as a screen shot to suppliment your article.

    Thanks and Cheers, Marc.

    I think you'll be happy when you try it :-)

    Sounds great!  Although of course, the next step would be to update all of this for Pro 3.

    Hi Marc,

    I tried those setting tweaks with the date/time format last night in the Options menu, and the Batch Rename process worked perfectly.  Only the date appeared with each filename without the time stamp.  Perfect.  Thanks for that.  I obviously missed that tip the first time round when reeading your article.

    You're right, I'll wait to see all the setting adjustments made in Pro 3 when it's finished.  I tell you, that colour equaliser is their most brilliant additon yet, next to the current Shadow/hilight equalizer.  That tool is the single best tool I've ever used in a software package.  It's certainly the standout feature for me in the program, among many others.  Cheers.
