For some reason, the full screen feature doesn't work properly in Vista. In XP, I could use full screen without any problem. I would just press F and the entire screen would be taken up by the viewer. But in Vista, the taskbar and a thin vertical line on the right side of the screen are still visible in full screen mode. This is really annoying because I'm not used to it and because it covers parts of the images being viewed. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

Full screen in Vista

Hanosimex, thanks for bringing this issue to the "Product Issues" thread ( formerly the "Defects" - thread </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ). This problem has already been reported here http://forums.acdsystems.com/index.php?showtopic=3436 and I am also experiencing this annoying defect. I can't understand how this very obvious malfunction could slip by unnoticed during QA and the Vista certifying process, since it does not seem to be an isolated problem. I hope there will be a hotfix soon, because this is unacceptable behaviour for an image viewer.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Our development team is currently investigating. At this time we are not sure what the problem is, we can reproduce the issue on one test box but unable to reproduce on several others.
You may consider updating your graphics driver, I underatand most companies have released Vista driver updates.
Quick test, if you turn off Vista 'Windows Arero', change the color scheme to 'Windows Vista Basic', this may resolve the issue. Steps:
First turn off window frame transparency
- Click the Start button, click settings, click Control Panel, Click Apperance and Personalization, click Personalization and then click Window Color and Apperance.
- Click 'Open classic apperance properties for more color options.
- From the Apperance Settings window under Color scheme select Windows Vista Basic.
- Click Apply.I will update once I hear back from development.
Thank you,

Hi Mark,
thank you for your feedback.
I am already using the latest final Nvidia drivers for Vista (Version 100.65, Feb. 20, 2007)
However, your other suggestions did work.
This problem is obviously caused by Windows Aero. Fullscreen is working properly in Windows Basic, while the problem still exists under Aero. I really hope you can find a solution for the problem, because I definitely don't want to keep Aero disabled. And I am really surprised this problem wasn't recognized during the Vista certification process ...Posted On March 20, 2007 - 01:46 AM (2 years ago) (Permalink to this post) -
I really hope you can find a solution for the problem, because I definitely don't want to keep Aero disabled.
As an intermediate solution -- after disabling Aero, you may re-enable it and the ACDSee viewer will continue to function correctly. However, once you reboot your system this process will need to be repeated.
Of course this isn't a perfect solution (disable, enable), but it offers you a temporary workaround at least.

Another solution is to change the screen resolution back and forth. For example, my desktop is normally at 1280x1024. If I switch it to 1024x768, the full screen feature will work properly. But since I don't want to keep it at this resolution, I switch back to 1280x1024, after which the full screen feature will continue to work properly.
However, like the solution that involves disabling Aero, restarting windows will activate the full screen defect again. This solution is faster than disabling and enabling Aero.

Thanks for that one, hanosimex. This solution works for me as well, and it's a good compromise for the time being. I still hope, though, there will be an official fix for the bug.

I'm experiencing the same thing ....
and the solution you suggested (disabling aero and back or change resolution) doesn't help me ...so it would be nice to having this bug (?) fixed ...
since the week is over ... (btw i guess you were talking about last week </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ) any more ideas?

I'm also experiencing this and would much like to see a solution. BTW the work around didn't work for me </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Hi
I,ve the same problem with full screen images - are you any nearer a solution? It would be good to hear an update.
I've found two work rounds that help. Slide shows work for me correctly, so I can then pause it and move through the images manualy.
Also the quick view mode does not appear to have the problemPosted On April 19, 2007 - 04:05 AM (2 years ago) (Permalink to this post) -
Hello
I'm another user who is having the same problem, the fact that ACDSee 9 doesn't support well full screen mode on Vista is really a big & annoying problem.
Thanks for telling us when this issue should be fixed

Hello,
We are currently working to resolve this issue. Unfortunately at this time I am unable to provide a date when an update would be made available.
I will post further updates as they are made available to me.
Thank you

this definitiveley takes way too long ... all the other Freeware-managers were able to get a fullscreen view working ... but not the one programm i paid for.
First reason to buy ACDSee was the viewer ... but this part is not working any more. Second reason was red-eye-fix ... not working any more ... well ... that's it ... CD is in the trash can .... I switched ... zoner photo studio is it right now ... quick support, fully functional .... started with acdsee 4 but this is ridiculous. Sorry guys ... but i'm gone .... and i hope many others too ...on top of it ... the beta version of ACDSee Pro 2.0 is working perfectly in fullscreen ... so what is it? You got our money and now you don't feel responsible for our concerns?
thanks a lot ... i don't really need this
btw ... did you ever wonder about the number of views of this thread? Maybe you didn't realize ... could be a hint for urgent problem ...
(some things i wrote are a little ironic, which is not the way posts should be .... but i'm really annoyed ...)
p.s. feel free to give my money back ... since i paid for something useless ...

I Know the return policy .... but since i bought it in january with winnXP running i didn't realize this issue. I was then forced to use Vista ... this was end of february ... i realized this issue some days later and saw this thread .... on march 20th Mark Cosgrove told us that there are people working on this issue ... we should wait two days .... 7 (!) days later he told us to wait until the end of the week .... this week took 1 month to end he told us that there is no solution found yet and that they are working on it ... suddenly beta 2.o of pro version pops up .... no fullscreen issue ... that is why i feel being ripped off ... if it was a two-men-company with first version ... ok...but not acdsystems ...
