The find duplicate is very basic. I would like to have a more robuste one.

1- I woudl like to have find duplicate search entire database without having to create a list.
    1.1- keep the list possibility </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
2- Be able to save the find duplicate result.
3- have find diplicate base on the morpholgy of the picture (extract contour line and find the one similar or the nearest)
4- Have find duplicate base on the histogram red, blue, green, brightness, noise (grain) etc... Individually or in group
5-Once we have establish, morphological and visual setting, then regroupe picture by propertie or categories
6-If GPS could be recognize this data could the be use to find nearest image.

I could refer to a tool we have in excel name Pivot table, why, simply because it could be take the shape of a box that we drag and drop a picture or a set of picture and visually we could place what we whan to filter on the colum or line header.

Once a Pivot table is set we could save it and process later in a down time (while we sleep)
remember the list at the begining, once we have define list, program them at a later time.

Since we could run then at downtime i really do not care if it take long..meaning better algorythm more precise

    Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. We understand the Duplicate finder needs to be updated but I am sorry to say that it is not slated for an update in Pro 2.

    Regards
    Mark

When it is updated, look at similar functionality as d'Peg has. It is an outstanding duplicate finder that does not base itself on file name or exact image duplicates, but instead bases itself off of patterns. This allows duplicates to be found when images are different sizes, manipulated, ...

Too bad this feature won't be updated for Pro 2. Let's face it: in its current state it's almost useless if you want to manage a large amount of files. You only get a list of the duplicate files, but processing and working with this list is a painful task. You can't even enlarge the very small window to full screen for a better overview. Determining which photo is the "right" one and which is the "duplicate" is difficult. And we're talking about the Pro version here ... I'd wish for full-screen and print buttons at least so I can print out the file list of duplicates and eliminate them manually. Maybe this is possible for the final?

Thanks for a very good product that is getting better all the time. But we also have have to add our suggestion that ACD strongly consider an Image Duplicate Finder. That, plus the missing API and/or DB export, would make it a Superlative product.

The current dupe finder is, well, to be nice, 99% useless. As a Pro product, you can expect customers to have at least many 1,000's of images in many 100's of folders, with (based only on file info) 100's of seeming duplicates which are not and vice versa. We have close to a a million images in 1,000's of folders! Duplicates are one of our biggest problems.

Finding dupes based on file name and/or size, etc, is ineffective. By the vary nature of routine cataloging, names change, sizes change a little or a lot, and so forth. Only by comparing the characteristics of the image can you create a true duplicate finder. Sure, it wouldn't be 100% effective but even 70% would be fantastic. As it stands, the current method finds few duplicates since it ignores all similar images that have different names or sizes.

Several other products have had this for a *very* long time. Thumbs Plus comes to mind. It has a *very* effective image duplicate finder. In fact, we are forced to use TP only for that single purpose because ACD doesn't have it. That means we have to pay twice to get great catalog management with duplicate detection. There are freeware products I've seen mentioned, as well.

Please re-consider making this (and DB API and/or export) immediate priorities!

    Thanks again!
