Must be the most frequent problem which arises on this board.
Could they not be auto-cancelled on re-starting the app?

Agree. That and the "Mouse over tips"
    Great idea Sam.
My way of thinking, is to remove the icons from the toolbar altogether, and move them to a dropdown
    menu.
I often wonder, how many users actually use it?

Use which? I certainly use exposure warnings. I also use the mouseover tips (they don't get in my way because I normally use the keyboard for as much as possible).

I don't use the main toolbar, but I do rather like the context sensitive one. Although I'd like it better if it were more customizable (or perhaps I haven't tried hard enough).

BTW, relevant to the topic *title*, if not the topic itself: I find it very counterintuitive that cranking up the exposure compensation in the RAW processor never reports "Clipped" pixels. I guess that display is only for the "Highlights" control, and I suppose there may be a technical reason why this distinction exists. But it isn't obvious to me.

I have read and re-read this bit of your post Marc and am still stumped. For me, both exposure compensation and highlight control report clipped at 0 or 255 correctly.

Perhaps it is a bug that I am seeing and others are not - something specific to Pentax RAW files, perhaps? The behavior I see is the same whether using the original PEF or the converted DNG. To be specific:

    1. Select RAW file
    2. Enter RAW processor
    3. Verify that "Clipped %" under "Highlights" reports 0 .00
    4. Crank up the Exposure control all the way to the right. At this point, it should be *obviously* clipping like crazy - histogram all the way off to the right, and the entire picture turns white (or red if exposure warnings are on)
    5. For me, the "Clipped %" under Highlights remains at 0.00. Do you see it reporting differently?

On the other hand, I just noticed that if I reduce the "Highlights" value from 255 to 254, *then* the Clipped % reads as expected. It starts at 0.00 if appropriate, and goes up as I turn up the Exposure. It's only when Highlights=255 that Clipped % remains at 0.00. Does anyone else see this? Does it seem correct?

    Marc
I now understand and agree that it is not reporting full whites or blacks (need to move 0 to 1) and, like you, I think it should
