embedding question

    OK, upgraded pm10 to pm2009 ok, imported db ok, embedded metadata ok (only 1 crash)...now I'm playing with the data embedding feature.  Here's my problem.

    moved some files with windows explorer, no tagging came with them.  moved them back and they worked fine in PM.

    copied a folder or images using windows, copied again with PM, also zipped in PM and transferred with a flash drive, none of those had metadata go with them.

    Am I missing something?  Isn't the whole point of embedding getting the categories and other tagging info to be portable with the files?  I'm porting files around but nothing is going with them.  What's up?

    Thanks!  I ended up replying on the other thread, reposting here for PM 2009 users:

    Wow, that worked but yeah, not an obvious step you need to take.  Also, it has tags now onthe laptop but not the same tags it has here on the desktop.  I'm a little puzzled with that.   Going to try again with another kit and see what happens...will do a fresh backup and optimize first since I haven't backed up since the upgrade.  I'll report back as soon as I figure something out.

    not sure again if this is a setting someplace or an error or what, the next kit I tried had png's all tagged correctly but the jpegs were missing author and categories.  Everyhting else came through just fine.  This time I tested by uploading from desktop then downloading to laptop...just in case there was something about using a flash drive that would cause trouble.  Can anyone confirm tagging information on jpegs after cataloging the folder?
