Hi, If I develop and edit a non RAW file, a D and an E appear in the thumbnail. OK

If I develop a RAW file, a D appears, but if I subsequently edit this file, I will save it as JPG or else, and no E tag will then be visible, neither in the RAW, nor in the newly created JPG. So, I now remember that this RAW file ha also been edited, but, ... in a few months?

    Am I doing something wrong?

Will I have to browse the Originals folder, or compare RAW and JPG to check if any editing process has been performed?

    Thanks

Anthony -   You are right.  No E on edited output files created from Raw.  I tried both Jpegs and Pngs, same result.  You'll also find nothing in the [Originals] folder, which no doubt has something to do with no E.  Not sure what their reasoning was here.  It certainly seems inconsistent.  Anyone know if this was on purpose, and why?

I suppose there are no originals because the RAW file is the original itself, but the point is I can't check if I did some (RAW) editing without visually comparing it with the saved JPG

  • because the RAW file is the original itself

Exactly. Whenever you do a "Save As" (whether the original was Raw or Jpeg) you are in effect creating a new original, and Pro3 doesn't automatically relate the two versions. Of course you can do this via Exif date/time, or by using "versional" filenames (as I tend to do), but this is hardly ideal. That's why some of us still don't think Pro3's non-destructive editing and/or its Originals feature is a substitute for some form of "version control", and would like to see that in a future version of Pro. (Perhaps along with other things like Viewer sharpening that we've been half expecting for at least two releases now.)
