I don't expect an easy solution to this problem, but one can hope.
For normal operation, I can easily set up ACDSee 10 to use a specific, fixed path for its database files. But what I'd like to do is this: Under alternative conditions, I'd like an easy, quick (ideally automatic, but that's probably much too much to ask) way to have ACDSee use a different database path. Then I'd like it to be able to return to the original paths.
Now, I'm well aware that I can do this manually. But what I'm hoping for is some less manual way to do it, ideally automatically.
To provide more specifics, when I mount an essentially portable disk, I want ACDSee to switch to using that disk for its database paths. And when I dismount it, I want ACDSee to restore the old paths.
I'd like to think that I could just install a copy of ACDSee on that volume and switch to it, but the system registry just isn't set up to allow that, at least not cleanly and easily.
Can anyone think of any other alternatives? Even something like a batch file might be just fine.
Thanks.
