I haven't let Pro 3 set up a database yet, since I have ACDSee 2009 on the same system
Note there would be no harm in converting your db - converting actually creates a converted *copy*, leaving the original unchanged. Another possibility would be to run Tools->Database->Catalog Files to build a new db that might not get all the ratings and keywords from the 2009 db (unless you had embedded the db info), but will at least read all the file names and other info. But I've been reluctant to use 3.0 beta to browse my 2.5 folders.
Now for the catch: The search will display a set of folders. It isn't intuitive to me at all how one gets OUT of that view. I could only figure out (eventually) to use the "up" button (just to the left of the 'Workspaces' menu item on the 'Manage' function menu). Then I discovered that the "back" button was probably better. But a move obvious way to get back to where one was before the search was initiated would be nice.
Do you have a suggestion for something that would be more obvious than "back"? If nothing else, I would agree the back button on 3.0 is pretty small. If you actually want to visit one of the folders, you can double-click on it. It seems to me the search results fill the browser window in pretty much exactly the same way any other type of browsing would, and all the controls work exactly as they would for other types of browsing (eg, by category, by folder, by calendar, etc) except that as you've noted, "up" really only makes sense in some contexts.
