Creating dxf files from Canvas 11

    Can anyone tell me why Canvas 11 crashes whenever we try to create dxf files for engineering purposes in Canvas 11?  The previous version of Canvas had no problem  creating dxf's.  It doesn't matter what size file.

    Response from Tech Support:

    Can you ask user to send his Canvas file to acdsupport@gmail.com or post the file on the forum ? I will try to reproduce the problem.

    In the meantime, maybe you can ask the user to remove all the paint objects if there are any in the canvas document, and then try to export DXF file again.

    All files here are company proprietary, therefore I cannot send anything without approval from the legal department which would take weeks if it is granted at all.

    Our Canvas 11 files are 2D engineering drawings so we don't use paint objects.  When we try to create dxf's Canvas 11 hangs up and then shuts down.  I tried creating cgm files to try to convert to dxf using a different program, but the cgm created by Canvas 11 results in a black uneditable rectangle.  The previous version of Canvas we used worked flawlessly.

    KDK - Can you just make something and save as dxf? Nothing thats important to your company ie.
    If that still crashes then send that file.
    I have occasional issues with dxf out of Canvas being read by other programs.

    Out of interest.  Does ACDSee take account of Microsoft generated reports for program crashes?  My surveying software says they do and to click send report whenever there's a crash.

    Hi KDK,

    Could PDF be an alternative to DXF or CGM ?

    Without reproducible procedure, it will be very hard for our engineering team to debug or test the solution.  As Richard suggested, if you can recreate problem with partial drawings while not compromising proprietary info, that will be a great help.
