    Hello to you,

Anyone out there having a solution against ACDSee 8.1.99 Pro crashing with the following error

"The instruction at “0x7c168f1d” referenced memory at “0x0000001c”. The memory could not be “read”.
Click on OK to terminate the program."

    Likely not. ..

It is reassuring to see that someone else has this problem. Mine comes up during bulk editing for exposure via curves and adjusting shadow/highlights. I may be able to do fifty photos in a row or only five. Most of the time it is closer to fifty.

I'm afraid I don't have a definitive solution, either. I would say it is definitely not hardware. As a starter, do you by any chance also run Trend Micro Internet Security 2006? I am not going to turn the antivirus software off even as a test. If you say that you do, I will.

If I hear anything more I'll be sure to post here. Thanks a lot.

I get the same error, and often. I run McAfee Security Center. I'll try running with it disabled.

The error occurs when I am browsing/rating files, after 20 or so it gives me the message. Frustrating.

    Anyone else? Suggestions?

    Thanks, Adam

  • Hi, I get the "instruction at 0x7c168f1d" error as well, when I'm batch rotating. Interestingly, this happens in both ACDsee pro (8.1) and in ACDsee 9, running on two different computers, so it's definitely not hardware related. Also, I run Norton INternet Security at home and Macafee at work, so it's not anti-virus related either. My suspicion is that its a bug in the ACDsee code, and in some portion of the code that's common to vrsions 8 and 9, but ACDsee seem (as usual) uninterested in investigating.
