CR2??

Hi all, I notice V3 STILL doesn't support CR2 files from my Canon SX1 is. The help files state that it supports CR2. I have written twice to the support system and silence ensues. I use CR2 extensively and need to be able to use it in ACDsee so I don't have to keep going back to Lightroom for every mid quality image I want to process. Anyone any idea about this?

    Thanks,

    Phil

PhilRose -   I use Canon CR2's in Pro3 with absolutely no problem.  So, there's something else going on here.  Can you provide some more info?  FYI, my camera is an EOS XSi 12mp.

I have no more info I'm afraid. They are just not recognised by ACDsee. I think the SX1 is is a little different in its format than older CR2 I think? The company did recognise this to me a couple of months ago and asked me to FTP a sample file to them. I tried to do that and it crashed the FTP uploader thingy every time. Since then I haven't heard back from them despite repeated attempts to get some more information. Attached is a screengrab of what I see in manage view.

    Thanks,

    Phil

And here is another showing that the format is not recognised.

Actually, just to be sure, if you don't mind giving me your email address and you can accept 12mb files I could send one over for you to confirm that you can't see it either. What do you think?

Thanks so much. I sent one on. Just wanting to check that you get the same result.

To Marc Sabatella:   Phil sent me one of his CR2's that he says Pro3 can't decode.  I found that he is 100% correct.  I tried other software and both Picasa and Lightroom decode it just fine.  But no luck with Pro3.  Any ideas on how he might handle this?

p.s.  I believe he has tried Support and has had no luck.

It's not a question of "older" versus "newer" CR2.  Every single camera needs to be supported indivudally, since they all have different sensor data and metadata and need different processing.  I don't see the SX1 on the list of supported cameras.  You should contact support and/or post a note in the Cameras and RAW forum suggesting this camera be added and offering to provide samples if necessary.  It seems they are usually pretty good about automatically adding support for all DSLR's (if not as quickly as early adopters might like!), but sometimes P&S cameras that shoot RAW get left out if no one raises their hand and says something.

In most cases where a camera's native RAW format is not supported, you can still get ACDSee to work with the RAW images by converting them to the standardized DNG RAW format using the free Adone DNG Converter.
