Compare Images clutter

  When I'm Comparing Images, at minimum (as far as I can tell) about 14% of my 1.3 MP display is occupied by borders, the toolbar, the minimized Comparison List and the Tag/Untag/OK/Cancel buttons. I'd like to have available the same tools (assigned to keys) that I use in the Viewer to turn off all that clutter, making more room for what I'm looking at, nothing on screen but two or more pictures and thin borders between them. And, incidentally, doing that shouldn't cancel the magnification I've already applied, as occurs when I click the Histogram button for example.
