I have different categories, example my girlfriend and my daughter. I want to see all the pictures i the database that they are together. (Sorry for my bad english btw)

How can i combine two categories, so the pictures with both my girlfriend and daughter will be shown together?

Go into the 'Organize' pane. Select the tabs down the left side (grey label shape pointing down) for the categories you want and it will find them.

    or

In the search pane select Search in - 'Specified folders and categories' and choose the ones you want.

Not very clear, but I hope it helps.

Let me try to explain... If i select one tab down the right side I will see all pics in that category, and also every picture in the other category I choose. I want just the pictures that have both categories, to be shown...

Example: I have one category that we call "Oslo" and one called "Girlfriend". I would like to find all pics of my girfriend in Oslo... Not every pic of both Oslo and girlfriend. I know that this could be done i Pro 2.5....

At the top right of the organize pane click on the little blue and green label symbols and select 'Match All'. That should only give pictures that are in both categories - I think.

Newbie here. I am also trying to understand filtering by categories. This was clarifying and the implementation seems rather clever. There is one problem though: When the categories in the Organize pane are collapsed, nothing indicates if a category is selected. Some kind of subdued blue color in the label beside the main category would be nice.

Yeah, that used to exist, but they took it out for some reason in Pro 3.  there have been several requests to add it back.  Note you can see the list of categories to which an image belongs in the Properties pane.

BTW, another way to see images that are in both the "Oslo" and "Girlfriend" categories would be to simply type "Oslo +Girlfriend" in the Quick Search box at the top of the main browser window.  This will also show pictures that have the word Oslo or Girlfriend somewhere else, like in a Caption, so that limits the usefulness of this technique a little if you tend to have information like this scattered in different places, but depending on how you organize your info, Quick Search can be incredibly useful for this sort of thing.  You can also do, for example, "Oslo -Girlfriend" to find pictures taken in Oslo that *don't* have your girlfriend in them.

    Hello Marc,

there can not be a good reason to kill the display to which categories belongs a thumbnail. It is essential.

Right, and that's why it exists on the Properties pane, like I said, Although I agree it would also be nice to additionally have the display in the Organize pane.

    Hello Marc,

the properties pane is no substitution, because you can not see all categories, when a thumbnail has many categories. Or you have under different main categories the same named under categorie. How should this function? In other way i must every time go to the propertie pane, when i want to see the allocated categories.

The next bug is, that in thumbnails and Details i can not display the ACDSee Categories. Only in the Properties Pane is not enough.
