Canvas Update - RC Complete

    The Canvas team is pleased to announce that the Canvas 11.1 update has reached the RC (Release Candidate) phase and is now in final QA (Quality Assurance).

    Here is a partial list of the many resolved issues.

    • Canvas 11.1 provides a better overall stability.
    • Printing enhances for 64-bit OS (XP & Vista)
    • Option added for exporting PostScript text as béziers
    • Canvas 11.1 provides a better overall support of importing and exporting BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PCD (import only), PNG, and TIF files
    • CALS format (*.cal and *.cal.mil) import is now supported
    • CALS export is now supported
    • CGM file of larger file size is better supported
    • GIF Animated import is now supported
    • Saving/Exporting ICO file (32 x 32 pixels) is supported
    • Import and export of Geo images such as Geo TIF is improved
    • Canvas 11.1 respects DPI setting of BMP, JPG, PCX, PNG, TIF import
    • TGA import and export supports alpha channel mask
    • PNG import and export supports alpha channel mask
    • JPG and TIF supports CMYK Color for import and export
    • 16 bits per channel Grayscale, RGB and CMYK TIF is supported for import and export
    • 16 bits per channel RGB and Grayscale PNG is supported for import
    • Paint Shop Pro files (*.pspimage and *.pspbrush) are now supported for import
    • More camera RAW file formats and DSLR camera models are supported for import:
      Sony RAW ARW, Panasonic RAW RW2, Mamiya RAW MEF.

    As part of the final QA, the team invites all interested Canvas users to download the RC for evaluation and feedback. Available by request only, please send an email to canvasbeta@acdsystems.com with "Canvas 11.1 RC" in the subject line.

    If the eps bug is never going to be fixed I would like to know so I can make decisions on my future software purchase.

    June 22nd. Super fresh!

    When you open Canvas and click Help/ About it says "Version: 11 Build 1231" or similar
    Thats what i'm after please.

    That way we know it is the latest.

    thanks - I'd been beta testing and had updated on my PC so wasn't sure where that was up to.
    I did think that I was still behind (1231 was on laptop)

    If spot color bug is fixed this will open a good opportunity to tons of people especially in publishing area. It is an open market because the only program left is Illustrator and there are tons of Quark users that would use Canvas for their line illustrations instead of getting tied up with Adobe.

    Freehand has been discontinued leaving many stranded with few choices.

    Corel Draw is not a viable choice because it does not open Illustrator cs files very well and isn't very compatible with the rest of the world.

    Update! The team has loaded a new build on to the FTP site and implemented these two things:

    • The Canvas Scripting Engine was updated to fix a crash when working with sequences.
    • Scientific Imaging Filters were updated with improvements made to the Image Math calculations. Calculations can now be performed on multiple images.

    Hi, I'm new to Canvas and the PC i came to work on had Canvas 11 already loaded on it. I've had my ups and downs with the program, and I was hoping the update would help fix some of the problems I was having, however I have not received my email letting me know where/how to obtain the update, is it normally supposed to take a while to respond to emails?
