Can't set category

While organizing my files, I accidentally sent several of them to the Recycle Bin.  I immediately went there and restored them all.  They appear in the folders as they were originally, however, now I am not able to set a category or rating to any of these restored files.  I am still able to set categories for files that were not sent to the Recycle Bin.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Amy

Did you delete them with ACDsee or another program?  Do they show up with a red "no" icon (slash in a circle) after restoring?  What happens if you try assigning a category or rating?  Do they show up under Database->Quarantine Files?

Yes, I deleted them with ACDsee - didn't know I could actually do that.  They do not show up with a slash in a circle.  They appear just like the others.  When I try to assign a category nothing happens.  No error or anything.  I've tried setting the category through dragging the file to the category I want and also by using the drop down menu at the top.  Neither work.  There is nothing under the Quarantine Files.

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but how do you know it's not working, then?  Could you be more specific about what you are doing or seeing to make you think it isn't working?  I believe you, I'm just trying to figure out if there is some way to reproduce what you are seeing.

Please ask all the dumb questions you can think of.  I am new to ACDsee and it is probably something so simple.  I know it is not working b/c the little blue tag does not appear above the file like it does with the others and when I open the category that I tried to assign it to, it does not appear.

I was just trying to set categories on some files in other folders.  Some work and some don't.  I remember when I first was setting up ACDsee it asked me to select folders and then it seemed to be importing the files to something (the database?).  Is it possible that I can't categorize some folders b/c they weren't imported or cataloged or whatever it was that the program was doing in the beginning?

I have seen where ACDSee won't tag some images..

I would suggest to optimize (Database | Optimize) and see if it helps.

If it still doesn't work, move the images to another folder outside of ACDSee (using windows explorer) and then restart ACDSee and see if you can than tag (the blue tag should appear very quickly on them once the category is applied.)
