Cannot run a backup

I have had this program only a short while and have backed up my database once. I am now trying to run the database backup and no matter what location I choose to backup my database to, I get the error: "The selected location could not be found. Please select another location before continuing." This is whether I'm trying to save the backup to my own hard drive or the external drive (where I last stored a backup). Any idea what is going on here? I am getting ready to install Windows 7 in the next week or so and I need to make a backup first.

Also, can someone tell me if doing the backup and backing up the pictures is all I need to worry about doing before a clean install on my computer? I'm guessing that I restore my pictures to their current folder, run the program and restore from the backup and I should be good?

No idea why the backup isn't working from within ACDSee, but if you find the db folder and back it up yourself, and also back up your images, then yes, you're as backed up as you can be.  Well, you might also consider embedding all db info in your files if you haven't already.

But if installing Windows 7 means reinstalling the application, I wouldn't assume you'll keep your tool presets and templates or other customizations, so be prepared for the possibility of having to redo some of that work.

Thanks Marc. I did figure out why the backup wasn't working <sheepish grin> apparently I was trying to change the name of the backup and it doesn't like that. Once I left that alone the backup went smoothly. I am writing the database info as I type but I'm not sure about the tool presets and templates - I really haven't customized the program - so probably haven't touched those things other than setting my editors for images which is easy enough to re-do.
