I cannot open any psd files in PE 2008 Beta 2.

Get an Error Loading document (through image basket)

through file | Open I get Error loading document (unsupported file format)

The psd files open just fine in Photo Editor 4.

I get the same errors using the image basket, drag and drop, the file menu, and add images. I was able to open reliably in PE4 and it was hit or miss in beta 1...sometimes it crashed but trying a different method worked sometimes. Nothing is working to open them now. <<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

    Hello,

Heidi, could you open these psd files in Beta 1?

Kaylaugh, are you only have issues with psd files?

    Thanks,
    Mark

yes, I could open them just fine in beta 1.
I have went through about 20 psd of different variety and have yet to find one that will open.

I was opening them reliably in PE4 and it was hit or miss in Beta 1. The opened most of the time but not always on the first try. I had one particular set that just didn't want to open no matter what I did (no, the filenames were not long.)

I just tried png's and jpeg's and they're working fine. The crop selected object isn't letting me do a custom constraint or even a set size...the whole drop down box is greyed out unless I'm cropping the work area. I use that feature a lot! I'm going to try some brushes next.

    Hello,

Please try this, first ensure PE 2008 Beta 2 or any other ACD product is not running, now run the PE 2008 Beta 2 installer and select the 'Repair' option.

    Result?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello,

Running the installer again and selecting the repair option seem to fix TheGreyGeek
    http://forums.acdsystems.com/index.php?showtopic=6999

Please ensure when running the installer that you select repair and not modify. If it doesnt work, please uninstall and reinstall PE 2008 Beta 2.

As far as we understand at this point, only an issue when installing Beta 2 over Beta 1.

    Thanks
    Mark

I tried to redownload the beta again but the acdsee server link is down.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled the same exe file as yesterday (photoeditor2008beta-5-0-264-en.exe)
Still errors on opening psd files.

It is interesting to note that if I go to File | Open and look for psd in Files of Type to list, psd's are not in the list

I am ok with opening .psd's. I had problems after loading Beta2 until I ran the repair option.
and Yep no problem with psd's with multiple layers either.
Heidi, perhaps they (we) would like to know your system config.
A lot of problems reported on this Forum are not happening on my system.
It may be due to low mem.
They need to work on some of their buffer sizes and check for memory leaks.

    system here is a:

Quad Core Q6700 4gb ram, 1tb HD, nvidia 8600, driving a 24" lcd with all usb ports filled with gadgets of some type.
running Vista Home Premium with SP1

I hope I get to try the newest fix soon. I still can't open psd's and they're not in the list of file types to 'add images' to the basket. <<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

my work around is to open the file in photo editor 4, and save the template as .apd file, then open in the beta2 version - longer, but lets me play with beta 2 and my templates!
