Not sure if we are going to have separate section on beta testing latest build but....did new install (new dbase) a few minutes ago and had a quick look:

    1. Interface looking really good.
    2. Database>Catalogue Files still does not build the thumbs and one has to go into each folder and let it meander through its process.
    3. Optimize dbase fails (never done this before for me so suppose a glitch in a pre-beta build!) - tried it 4/5 times - no go.

Went for a cup of tea before pressing send and had another go! Cat files (2 above) is now worse I'm afraid. I have a number of folders that even when catted and opened, on re-opening the thumbs have to be built again

Further update. The only way I can get certain folder contents to 'stick' (ie not to require re-building the thumbs) is to select all images and choose 'database>rebuild thumbs and meta' - this then works and on re-loading Pro that/those folders give instant access to all images.
Just to repeat - cat files (nor letting a folder open whilst re-building) is not working as it used to.

I know this has been the subject of a thread in the main forum but would someone kindly try:

    1. Re-name 'default' folder as 'default-old' using win explorer
    2. Create new empty folder called 'default'
    3. Start Pro
    4. Cat files on a couple of specific folders
    5. Tell me whether or not I am barking </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Actually, with build 201 (beta 3), I have started seeing the same problem, and running "rebuild thumbs and meta" doesn't help a bit. *Any* folder I enter appears to require re-cataloging on every visit.

In fact, it's worse than this. Simply viewing one file then return to the browser causes thumbs to be regenerated for every image in the folder, even if I don't actually leave the folder.

Furthermore, if the images are RAW files that have had processing applied, the thumbs all start by reverting to showing an unprocessed version of the image; these are gradually replaced by thumbs that show the processing. This happens on every re-entry to the folder. The status message in this cases says "generating high quality thumbnails" and the counting percentage; in a folder with JPEG files only, the status bar simply shows the percentage counting.

Sorry guy's, I am not seeing the issue you are having.
I can go from folder to folder, and back, view a file ,go back to browse, and ACDSee does not regenerate thumbs. I have it on my laptop now, and will load it on another machine tomorrow, and see what happens.

I aggree with the dark colour scheme Sam. Very proffesional looking.

Thanks - glad to know I am NOT barking </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I don't have high quality thumbs selected so that may be the difference.
I expanded every one of hundreds of folders, easy (?) selected them and started rebuild thumbs and meta and left it overnight. Now works OK
Optimize also working now I have completed that aforementioned process.

Chippy - sorry you are not seeing this - obviously you have not installed the app properly </forums.acdsystems.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

I do have high-quality thumbs enabled. I also have "use embedded thumbs" enabled, but it does not in fact appear to be doing so: on my first visit to a folder, I see only generic icons for the files until it starts generating thumbs. Once it has finished, I can leave the folder and return and see the thumbs instantly, but as I reported above, it re-catalogs the folder every time, and if the folder contains RAW images, it regenerates the high quality thumbnail on each visit.

With "high quality thumbs" disabled, it does not, of course, regenerate them, but then, I'm mostly stuck with thumbnails that don't reflect my RAW processing. It appears that immediately after doing RAW processing, an updated thumb will be displayed (actually, not until after the RIP is finished being generated). But if I levae the folder and come back, the thumb again reverts to the unprocessed version. The mouse-over preview shows the processing, however.
